Like virtually every other Golden Age radio station, WENN has an adaptation of Sherlock Holmes, but with a twist: "Armchair Detective" has Holmes, played by WENN's leading man Jeff Singer (Hugh O'Gorman), solving re-enactments of real-life cimes. One of the cases the show re-enacted concerned convicted murderer Larry Looper (Joe Grifasi). Looper breaks jail and shows up in the studio with a gun to force the cast to re-enact the crime again, but this time, show he was not guilty. Station Manager Victor Comstock (John Bedford Llyod) arrives to relieve Looper of his gun, (which was not loaded) but the cast goes on with the re-creation of the murder anyway. Despite Singer's frustrated realization that he is just an actor, it is he who discovers the key clue which proves Looper's innocence.
